In 2018, I independently developed skills in 3D rendering using SketchUp while designing the marine room for our research team.
3D Layouts
Client: Water Research Group National Aquatic Bioassay Facility
Objective: To design and set up a compact marine research facility at the university, using 3D models created in SketchUp, to communicate effectively with the manufacturer, as well as organise the layout of the equipment for upcoming projects and experiments.
Outcomes:
- Established the necessary criteria for a marine aquarium with a capacity of approximately 5,000 L
- Developed a detailed layout and specified dimensions for the saltwater supply system and equipment stands
- Oversaw and executed the installation based on the finalised design
Experimental designs
Client: Researcher
Objective: To design a comprehensive experimental design for a student’s dissertation, outlining the setup and methodology of their experiment within a controlled environment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Outcomes:
- Constructed a comprehensive backdrop for the experiment, highlighting the controls applied throughout the process
- Incorporate necessary replicates to ensure reliability and statistical robustness
- Produced a detailed, accurately scaled rendering of the design to reflect the true dimensions and layout of the experimental setup
